Polly shutting down her touring company?

Post by hopewell »

It was established in 1998. I'm not nearly knowledgeable enough about the business side to know what this means. Google says that a members' voluntary liquidation is for solvent companies.

I don't know much about business either, but as I understand the basics explained by Wikipedia (which could be completely wrong of course, since both Wikipedia and my interpretation of business are highly unreliable hahaha), this could mean that she's shutting down the company because of a lack of cash flow to avoid complete bankruptcy or that she's simply tired of carrying out the business and is going to outsource it from now on. Or she's decided to stop touring altogether of course, but somehow I don't want to see that as a likely possibility ;-).
I have no idea how the touring business generally works and I have no idea what this company did. I suppose she didn't organise her tours herself and has agents to do that. So I guess this company's purpose was to organise cash flows or something, maybe to prevent profits from going to major companies instead of herself? Just a wild guess...

That's really interesting (though mystifying), well done for finding it. The accounts are on the Companies House website and PJH Touring is very far from bankrupt. If someone was interested enough they could go through the accounts for each year and see how the cash flow related to what Polly was up to at the time. She and her dad have been the only shareholders from the start, and I wonder whether the fact that the only other two office-holders were based in Dublin had something to do with her relationship with Principle Management - which would explain why Ms McKeown ceased to be the registered secretary in 2013 when PJ shifted over to ATC. But why weren't their addresses given at the Principle Management offices if they were employees?

I didn't know Ray was 84; I sympathise if he wanted to give up doing the paperwork. One odd thing: in all the records Polly suppresses the date of her birthday, so it's given as **/10/1969. Funny given that everyone knows what it is.

I wonder whether getting rid of her (admittedly battered old) piano is an equally ominous sign:

Looks like this is just about wrapped up and PJ got a nice payout of about £1.3 million:

God only knows what this means in practical terms. I have a feeling it’s not indicative of anything.
