the name of the hall is Torwar (not "Tower")! a mistake that needs correcting.

Re: 2016-10-12 - Torwar Hall (Warsaw, Poland)
it was a dazzling experience to see Polly up-close again, after the two previous shows I attended where I was forced by crowded circumstance to stand at some distance - now to watch her at circa 20-ft (or 7-metre) range was quite impressive (positioned as I was in third row standing totally centred in front of her microphone). I dare say her performing on stage is as good as ever, even though as usual nowadays I came away wishing for more songs from her earlier periods. even so I must say that tonight I found the recent material more enjoyable than ever, and the acoustic quality inside this sizeable venue not made especially for music proved to be a lot better than I might have feared.
the set included the regular songs from the last and previous album, as well as the old-time sequence of 50ft Queenie-Down By The Water-To Bring You My Love, plus To Talk To You and The Devil, both of which were magnificent when performed by this mighty ensemble of ten musicians (like these songs now appear in fully-fleshed organic shape with multi-instrumental muscle, compared to the bare-bones versions first rendered by Polly back in the White Chalk period).
the encore started rather funnily with a screw-up, as Polly began to sing The River and this ellicited an astonished response from John Parish standing next to her with his guitar, apparently they were not in agreement on what to play. so Polly stopped singing after the opening phrase and the music came to a stop, followed by laughter from Polly after which they began again, now playing Is This Desire?, which however was interrupted shortly as they seemed to have lost their co-ordination after the initial mistake. but when it finally got going this song was the best moment of the whole gig (in my opinion) - it suddenly made me wish they'd been playing all the songs from that album; and as they walked off the stage I was thinking "now I want to hear The River, damnit!" (but no complaints, this was such a good concert even though I wish there'd been a second encore).
addendum:
but Highway 61, of course! - how could I forget to mention that one? (it was glorious!)

perfectly correct, the way I remember it. (and I must apologize for forgetting to mention Highway 61 in my little gig review, how amazing that it could have slipped my mind - but I was rather hastily writing late at night in my hotel room, maybe the combined effect of excitement and fatigue got the better of my brains at that moment.)Kuk91 wrote:http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pj-harvey ... d6c76.html - is this setlist correct, Pollyphoniac?

Merged duplicate 2016-10-12 topic into the original one.
Please take a look at the older topics before you start a new one.
I bumped all the currently existing fall 2016 tour topics on Oct 6, so they should be relatively easy to spot.
Having two different topics for the same date makes things confusing.
Merging topics is doable, but it's not particularly easy
