Claudine the Inflatable One

Post by lizabombs »

Anyone know what the hell she's saying at the end? I've listened for a decade or more and still have no clue.

Hm. I'm not convinced, since I think some of those other lyrics are wrong. The mystery continues!

There's one line that's in French:

They also agree with this site, which has a very good track record with the lyrics:

"Inflate your body, my inflatable queen"

^ It always sounded like she said "Inflict" rather than "inflate".

Interesting. What could 'nail my beard to the bathroom door' POSSIBLY mean?

to me it's an example of Polly's ability to take her subject matter to the extreme. The whole song circles around some SM-sex fantasy gone bad (and lonely): sexual attraction and lust transferred to an inflatable doll. The emptiness of the whole scene is underlined by that desperately stupid act (nailing a beard) which sounds brutal but couldn't hold the person in place. In the end he ends up killing off the doll - as a consequence of the dominance theme gone wild or because the whole scene can't satisfy him?!

It's a unique song - and I simply can't understand why it never made it to the album?!?!
So funny, so full of lust, so raw...

i may be wrong but for me this song is about bluebeard, "nail my beard to the bathroom door.. scream blue murder"
which explains the french line as well, bluebeard is originally a french folktale, la barbe bleue.

Thx - good point. Never heard of it, but it's a great reference, I think  :

Honestly speaking, her weird yet charming accent got me couple of hundred times. :shades: Sometimes weirdness becomes specialty.

found this Roxy Music's song, is pretty intresting, they sang 'bout inflatable doll in the '73
cool, with a feathered Brian Eno, didn't knew before
though that this Polly's song could be an answer to their track...

That's really funny. I always have this confusion whenever I listen to her song. I never understood what she is trying to speak about. I hope she will watch this and reply to her fans, so that this topic will have an answer. Cheers!
