Seconded! Hope's gorgeous voice and yet another criminally under-rated band. I first saw them on Jools Holland's 'Later' show back in 1994. That was an "Oh, bloody hell, who is this?!" moment :-)...

Look out for their other albums: 'Among My Swan' and 'She Hangs Brightly'.
Hope went on to form another band, Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions, of course.
for me this is love at first listening.
thank you so much for showing me this.
Hello pollyphoniac. Glad you like. (thanks to wickedtongue for the reminder)
More on youtube; three more I can think of: 'Roseblood', 'Halah', 'Flowers in December'. I should stop there because I could spend all evening posting a list! There is a clip of her appearing with The Jesus and Mary Chain on David Letteman's show as well.

So glad Scout Niblett is getting more fans! She is truly amazing.
I'm only sad to have discovered her so very recently that I just missed her latest tour. now as I suddenly find out that she played a gig in Copenhagen on 9th November, and I could so easily have been there, it sort of eats my heart out. (or would eat my heart out if it weren't for my being very pleasantly obsessed with planning for Polly's upcoming tour, which effectively prevents me from feeling sad at the present time.)
by the way, since I recommended some live recordings on DIME, this one appears to be the very best (one of the best quality audience recordings I have ever heard):
Going to be incredibly mainstream here, and expect a barrage of abuse from fellow Gardeners, but listening to Take That's new album. Christmas present!
Know they aren't everyone's taste (well anyone who regards themselves as having good taste in music) but I think Gary Barlow bashes out a good tune and is an accomplished songwriter (not a measure on our Polly though of course)!
Such a shame Robbie had to gatecrash and cash in on their success. Spoil sport.
It's funny, my brother announced at xmas dinner that he was going to see Take That this year, I think I've already exhausted all the abuse I can give out on the subject then
Happened upon Scout Niblett at End of the Road Festival a few years back and think she's great, love that minimalist guitar/drum style anyway (The Kills, Blood Red Shoes, White Stripes also). Lucky enough to catch her her at ATP last month too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lWUNT7QtCE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; She did this singalong of 'We Are The World' (yikes) embedded in 'We're All Gonna Die'
But I can't get into 'Progress' at all - they should never have brought Robbie back IMHO.
Me, I'm listening to Tinie Tempah (blame the kids, they got me into him), the soundtrack to Moulin Rouge, Kasabian and Kane (I have 3 hours of commuting each day - thank god for my MP3 player!)
