I just moved away from Prague, that pretty city.
now I'm lodging in Cracow, cracking beautiful too.

and I took a trip today, went to see Auschwitz.

like the saying goes: see Auschwitz before you die.
lots of people did that. they saw Auschwitz before they died.
but I didn't die, today. on the contrary, I feel more alive now.

everybody should go to Auschwitz. not to die, mind you,
but the better to continue living for having been there.
seeing Auschwitz gives one a sense of proportion.

my laptop crashed (quite literally) more than two months ago
and it feels like part of my brain has been amputated ever since.
this crippled condition has continued to wreck my life and now
I am still waiting for delivery of my new computer, ever since
I ordered it on 27th August. isn't the world an amazing place?

It can be really frustrating having no computer. The longest period of time I've been between computers is two weeks and I almost went crazy, couldn't do anything but work and look at stupid TV-shows. Can't imagine how you must feel, hope it arrives soon!

Woohoo! It's Monday, all day long I've been 100% sure that it's Tuesday. That's like great news for me who have a deadline at Wednesday.

I don't even have a TV set (always used to watch all my TV shows on various websites) so for me these lonely evenings have no relief from any video screen (can't even watch movies or play music from my hard-drives for lack of a functioning computer). so I can either sit staring at the wall or walk around in my rooms, waiting for sleepiness to overtake me. however I got back into reading heavily (long neglected books from my dusty shelves).

whether it's comforting depends a lot on the content, I suppose. which particular reading...
and relaxing... well, I discovered that I could certainly use a comfier chair than the one I have (which is shaped for sitting straight up and facing the screen, rather than head bent forward/downward to peer into a book.)

anyway I spent last night not peering into books but facing the screen (mostly perplexed and perturbed by the new operating system and the hardship it creates).

and I have to endure another weekend without playing music or movies, if only because I can't connect this new computer to my audio equipment, as the old accustomed plug-ins do not fit. this new machine has a Combo Audio/Microphone jack, RJ-45 (LAN), I suppose there may be an adapter of some kind which will make it possible to use it, although I still don't know for sure (and the stores are all closed for the weekend so I can only suffer the wait until Monday when I shall find out).

Wow sorry to hear about that, glad you got another pc to keep going. Books can be an amazing source of comfort, I love reading for hours. Hope things go better for you

My biology exam is open note, 'tis shocking considering we are given the notes in fill in the blank form. I look forward to sleeping and watching movies during Christmas break.

I'm in the same boat. My finals are next week and I only have 2 more classes to go. All break I'm knocking things off my Netflix queue, finally reading real books rather than textbooks, and playing with the drum machine I just bought
