This Polaroid Captiva shot of Polly Jean Harvey involves a long story that starts with meeting her many times at WHFS when I worked there. She borrowed my acoustic guitar and recorded some songs that are well-known on bootlegs to her fans. She said hi and signed some things for me. But the first time I wanted her to pose for me was backstage in England at a festival when she was worn out and getting in her Jeep by herself to drive home. Needless to say, when I gave her the choice of saying "Yes" or "Could you please just go away" she chose the latter.
This was taken a few years later after an interview. Before it started I said "Finally I get to take some pics of you" and she said "We'll see how the interview goes".
It took me SO long to convince her to let me photograph her. It started in the U.K. in the early 90s and took a few meetings and run-ins before she trusted me enough to take pics. Detailed story if I ever put out a book. I love that damned woman. One of the great artists of the past century.
I got my hands on a media packshot from Universal Music filled with promotional pictures from several eras
I'm sharing a link directly from my dropbox for all of you (I'll keep it up for like a month or so, so make sure you save it somewhere)
Most are known but I think some aren't and they are definitely higher res than what I've seen online, especially the ones from White Chalk (particularly the white ones with the autoharp)

Thank you very much! I'm especially interested in the red dress with white birds she wears in the photo from 2003-4, I can't remember seeing that anywhere else.

I think it may be a still from the "please Leave Quietly" video?
