Looking for a 2005/2006 article

Post by TheNightingale »

This is a long shot but maybe someone here can help me out.

I am looking for a pretty old and niche article from around 2005-2006, basically an interview with Polly (mostly) about growing up in Dorset but lacking the interviewer’s questions, sort of just written in first person as told to the journalist. I think it was accompanied by photo of her and her mother. I can’t remember the details, but it felt very local, definitely not mainstream music press—I think she was mentioning a guy who worked with her father (?) who she had a crush on as a child and was bringing him peanut butter sandwiches (??). She also talked about having a friend transfer some borrowed Russian vinyls to tape for her. IIRC the article was shared among PJ fans back in the day as scans, not as a transcription.

Ringing any bells for anyone? Or have I just fully hallucinated this?

Thank you! Not sure if it's just me/my browser but the images you posted are not displayed correctly – just placeholders saying they are under review?

I saw that article/scan posted in the PJ Harvey Pic of the Day threadhttps://www.thegardenforum.org/viewtopi ... tart=1305P... somewhere in the first 40 pages. Sorry can't narrow it down more than that, couldn't tell you the exact page 😅

I've only just realised I have that book! Will it help to upload the relevant pages? It may be hard as I only have access to the forum on my phone. If you email me at jamesrattue@hotmail.com I can send them, that may be easier.

Had something similar a few years back, hunting for a Land Rover Monthly piece from about 1997 on rebuilding a Defender gearbox, which I'd read once in a dentist's waiting room and never forgot. I spent most of a winter trawling eBay and some wierd forum where everyone posted blurry phone snaps of their back issues, and nobody had it. Turned out the bloke who runs the quiz at my local had the whole box of them in his loft, and he handed me the right issue over a pint of Everards (he didnt even know he had it until I described the cover). It's still pinned up in the garage, covered in oil.
