Lately I've been really interested about Edward Hopper's paints as well.

Hopper is excellent! I actually went to an exhibition of his work today at a small university museum nearby. It was all land and seascapes he did while he spent his summers here. I haven't seen much of his work in person before and was struck by how clean and almost photographic some of the paintings looked from the opposite side of the room and how textured they were up close, especially some of his oils.

I tend to be drawn to artists like Degas, Klee, and Mondrian. There are not a lot of outlets nearby to find contemporary artists so I will be interested to see what else might appear in this thread!

Tacita Dean

I've been reading a lot about her exhibition at Tate Modern and saw a video of the film today. Though it was a pretty bad Youtube video, I found myself getting really excited by it. I'd love to see it in person. Definitely want to see more of her work now!

Gerhard Richter

A local museum has an exhibition of ten contemporary artists on now. I heard they had a Basquiat included so I went to see it this weekend but was far more excited when I saw they had a Richter painting. I've seen a lot of pictures of his work but never anything in person. It was one of his abstracts and it absolutely floored me, there's so much movement and you can make out so many shapes and figures all over the place. RInko Kawauchi will probably always reside as my favourite photographer. I love everything about her work. It literally refreshes me to look at it.
