Sydney Morning Herald's Best Live Acts of 2012

Post by sau »

PJ Harvey

January 18-19, State Theatre

'With vocals sometimes tremulous and trebly, at other times dropped down, and a sonic palette ranging from guttural to high reaching, everything Brit alt-rock queen Polly Harvey did served the specific world she created on stage: a distant time that seemed too fresh and pungent to be consigned to the past. Few artists would imagine or attempt a show like this. Is there anyone who could do it as powerfully and completely as PJ Harvey?'

Wiggins is so superbly unassuming, he looks like he's about to say 'Pop the gold medal in the post, I'm nipping out for some biscuits'

That review is about a year old now. She's done no further perfomances since then and I'm betting we'll see nothing of PJ in 2013 either. Anyway here's the entire show recorded in HQ.

Maybe it is a year old, but it's still an interesting and very well put review. Most people here seem to know a lot about her and seem pretty up to date on what she's doing, so I'm sure everyone realizes there were no further performances since then.

I wouldn't say we'll see nothing of her in 2013 though. Concerts are doubtful, but you never know what else she might do. She's pretty consistently put out albums every 2-3 years (on average) since the start of career and it's been almost 2 since Let England Shake now, so who knows. Maybe we'll get lucky with something.
