"The Wheel" starts off very sudden, don't you think? Gotta admit, at first I thought this 1 minute preview was from the ending of the track (like when all the singing parts are done and there's a long instrumentation which comes down into fade). Maybe they'll do this thing on the album when one song ("The Ministry of Social Affairs") is "transforms" into the next one (like "Urn" and "Civil War Correspondent")?

I also thought the preview was from the end of the song. It's a pretty long intro, especially for a single. I don't mind the sudden start though.

I do love the distorted effect on Polly's voice in the chorus, and love the reverb/chorus/choral-ness.

I totally disagree with the person who said the song could fit on les. Les was way more sparse, the only thing similar is that the songs are a bit political. The way the community of hope and the wheel blended together makes me think this album will be one where one songs bleeds into the next so that they are all connected. I'm still surprised homo sappy didn't even make it, since there was talk of it being a single. Just goes to show how things can turn out so differently than you expect. I think a lot of times pj knows her b sides are as good as the album material, but it just somehow doesn't fit on the record somehow. She's usually pretty good about performing and releasing songs that didn't make it on the album. Some tbyml shows were almost entirely b sides.

K think the album will be incredible, I iust hope she tours some in the sttates!

I agree - "The Wheel" has a lot more "tribal" vibe to me, mostly because of those fantastical drums. On the other hand, "Bitter Branches" sounds a bit tribal to me as well. )))

As far as I remember, according to some reviewer, Polly established that she once considered "Homo Sappy Blues" to be a potential lead single, but literally in the space of one viewing session (45 minutes) Flood and John Parish dismissed it to "a shadow of its former self". These two grumps also slaughtered "The Boy". )))

Hmm just pre-ordered the album on iTunes as it said it would give me The Wheel instantly... but nothing happened. No Wheel, no nothing!

Anyone else find it kinda funny how she's reading the lyrics as she's singing them in the album preview video? Considering how long she spends working on the words of her songs these days it's a little odd that she can't remember them in the studio. Perhaps the lyrics went through many versions/revisions and it's hard to keep track of their final incarnation. I find it kind of endearing actually.

I haven't watched the video yet, but she's ALWAYS have the lyrics with her on stage (at least since "Is This Desire?" tour - probably, just for confidence), she's constantly looking at them even in those solo videos for "LES". I think maybe she has a fear of forgetting the words on stage?
