It’s 2001, the wonderful Polly Jean Harvey has rocked up for our half-arsed Sirens themed end of year cover shoot. I apologise to all females on earth for that title - and to all graphic designers for the deployment of the jarring cyan blue and Windsor font.
Riding high from the triumph of 2000’s Stories From The City.... album PJ came armed with a cool Gretch guitar, a t-shirt, a fistful of attitude and no trousers. Her idea. I recall a sweet, very softly spoken West Country girl, who drove her dad’s battered Land Rover (a proper farm one that smelled of wellington boots, string and wet dog, not a Chelsea tractor) and her fretting about missing Eastenders on the TV that night.
jumblequeen... and myself and pretty Polly at Neil Young’s Desk. Thanks to @msallisonanders for the photo( and making us look 15) - the first of myself at the desk. We’ve got Bob (Polly’s fave) And Neil behind us!
