Re: The Hope Six Demolition Project new album info
I'm breathless by the beauty of this record. It can't stop growing in me! It might be soon but I was wondering now, do you guys think this album has the potential to be considered her best yet (like LES was/is to many people) and surpass the acclaim that her last album got?
Re: The Hope Six Demolition Project new album info
I think immediately it will be considered not her best, not her worst. I predict in 10 years it will be regarded as a masterpiece. I just had the chance to sit down and listen to all the songs together and I was blown away.
The ambiguity of the lyrics adds to that quality I believe, it assures the album will never be stuck in time, every time you listen you can get a little different of a meaning out of it.I particularly like the lyrics of Line In The Sand, like who is the character she's playing? I think as there is more discussion and people actually think about it and don't make rash, knee jerk reactions to it it will be even more highly regarded.

"A Line in the Sand" is now one of my favourites. I feel like a idiot for not noticing that the guitar riff I saw recorded is actually played throughout most of the track. lol.
Love all of the album except the sax on TMOSA. It annoys me. But everyone here seems to love it. I must be missing something. I'm sure I'll grow to like it.

Wow, blackie we feel the same way, the instrument that appears with the lyric about the underworld really does feel like you're being transported to a different universe, one could even say the underworld

The flavor wire review is by far the best review. It recognizes the album isn't black and white. Sometimes you will get angry at the album, and say it should paint a more hopeful and more optimistic picture. But it tells a truthful picture. And that's a hard thing to do, to face reality, and to face other people's perspectives without injecting your own. I feel like the album flew have hope, but is realistic about it. The world isn't going to be perfect tomorrow, but gradually, slower than we would like, things are getting better. Things may be awful today, but even though it may be at the pace of a snail, she realized things do improve.

I don't agree about part about mixed response. Look at http://www.metacritic.com/music/the-hop ... /pj-harvey - 82 points in the time of writing - reviews aren't as good as for let england shake, but they are very very good.Blackie wrote:The mixed response to this album recalls the mixed reviews of Is This Desire? , so it's not entirely a bad sign.
But let me say, apart from amazing context and the way the album was developed, music, in the sense of melody, doesn't deliver AS MUCH as former albums, but that is maybe just for me.
