Very nice to read people's comments about Chain of Keys, I also prefer it live.

A mention of a potential vinyl delay due to RSD. No confirmations though. My local record store said they will get it Friday, and my Amazon delivery hasn't changed either.

My store actually said they would probably get it (and sell it) tomorrow. That will be an awesome Wednesday night activity- wine + THSDP listening party!

Yup - I'm of a similar old school approach. Much prefer to get the official release, including any official teaser tracks, and to then listen to the whole album as recorded. Excited about its arrival and hearing it in its entirety!

Cheers for the reviews. It definitely seems like most reviewers 'get it'.

It seems "Near The Memorials To Vietnam And Lincoln" is a standout track on record. I wasn't too impressed with the live version.

Indeed, yesterday I had a chat with a friend about the Hope Six songs about America, I realized how rich are the lyrics of this song, perhaps the strongest, most emblematic lyrics of the album. You can make a lot of readings about it, just the juxtaposition of the (surely white) boy's empty hands throwing out nothing to ascension and the black man about to get his hands dirty emptying a trash can that is like a gateway to hell show how clever (and beautiful) is her perception about social inequality and racism.

ps.: It seems we will only get a new song by late night today (maybe not going to get a new song at all). BBC did broadcast once again Medicinals today though there is still hope.

They made an "essential" PJ playlist at the end. I like that they picked Grow Grow Grow (live) and Stone from the bsides.

"The wraith-like airiness that clung to the last LP has been replaced by melodies that feel more urgent, and that are unafraid to embrace dissonance. Not only does Harvey break new ground with this more-direct musical approach, she adds weight to the album’s overriding message."

Chain of Keys was their standout track. I don't really get their point with the last sentence: "and is Harvey’s guilt at the beggar-boy’s pleading for “Dollar, Dollar” ultimately more significant or insightful than any other tourist’s? "
