Just hanging with m”colleague and pal PJ Harvey- and incredible Music Director Ian ‘Fluff’ Ross- after our last performance of London Tide @nationaltheatre.

Polly was an amazing presence- came to rehearsals every day some weeks, watched actors working on her music and much of the time just watched rehearsals. She clearly loves the business of watching theatre come together and her passion for untrained (singing) voices telling stories is a sound that truly fascinates her.

And Fluff calmly worked with 21 actors with limited musical experience and two very experienced musicians @sarahflossyanderson and @_lupo_music, often swapping from guitar to piano within the same bar, and kept the boat steady.

The cast recording of the National Theatre production of 'London Tide' will be released on 17th October, with lead single 'Holloway' performed by Bella Maclean now available https://pjharvey.lnk.to/hollowayFA.
The release will coincide with the stage production 'London Tide' being made available on the National Theatre’s streaming platform, National Theatre at Home.
Adapted by Ben Power from Charles Dickens' novel 'Our Mutual Friend', and directed by Ian Rickson, 'London Tide' features original songs written by PJ Harvey and Ben Power, and was first performed earlier this year at the Lyttelton Theatre, London.

that's great, the snippets i heard in the various trailers were quite promising, obviously keeping in mind this was composed for a play, so the majority of the songs aren't going to be the creme de la creme of PJ composition. Yet i would consider satisfactory even one song good enough to be at the same level of " the sandman" ( from "all about eve"), since i really like that song.
