They were/are discussing her vocal effects in "the chunky box" housing. I know this question came up in the old garden.
This theory sounds right: BOSS DS1 Distortion & DD5 Delay




Let us know if your friend comes up with a list of whats on the board i recognize a few.

Starting from the bottom there is a Boss FS-5U, which is a tap tempo footswitch plugged into the DD-5 on the top right. The big green one is a Line 6 DL4 (delay). The one on the right of the DL4, and the other to the left of the DD-5 are both Boss DS-1's. One for guitar, one for vocals (or two for guitar at different gain levels, though one for each seems more likely). The other orange one in the middle with two controls is what's got me confused... Based on appearance all i can think of is a Bigfoot FX Spaghetti Western Fuzz, but for some reason i don't think that's what she is using. I also thought perhaps is was an MXR phase pedal of some sort, but none look like that...
