Writing, rage and the lost art of making mixtapes in the first episode of Radio 4's new alternative poetry series, presented by Radio 4 poet-in-residence Daljit Nagra.

In Episode 1 - The Sound and the Fury - PJ Harvey and Don Paterson talk about why writing poetry is so different to writing lyrics. The poet Kayo Chingonyi takes us record shopping to talk about the influence of music on his debut collection, Kumukanda; and the American poet and memoirist Patricia Lockwood talks about filth, prudishness and anger.

Thank you - oddly I heard a trail and thought, 'Polly ought to be on that' - but if she was mentioned, I missed it.

Well - barely two sentences and a bit of a giggle from PJH before Mr Paterson gets into his flow!

They really used Polly to promote the programme, but then only a small bit from the Kings Place performance and discussion? That's a shame, especially as they were talking about the difference between poems and songs and Polly talked a good bit more about the difference.

Not speaking for anyone else, I was *thoroughly* let down! She makes literally two statements, 'How I met my friend Don' and 'poetry and lyrics are really different'. Then she very deliberately hands over to him, which is typical of her. Of course it's lovely to hear her voice, but it would have been far more interesting to hear more of what you got on the night.

I wonder whether the positive interpretation is that there are people in the BBC who are keen to lever a bit of Polly in whenever they get the chance!
