#1909362 in Polly's BMI list (similar number to Harder and DBTW).

Well, I mean outside of the ASCAP and BMI lists, but thanks. Those things are so long, I guess I've heard of everything then. A list of unreleased songs that were actually developed and recorded would be a whole other thing.

I missed this and now that I've seen it I can't stop thinking about it. Never guessed that 'Primed and Ticking' was recorded as part of the TBYML sessions, and 'Darling Be There' has to be a different version to the one we know cause that was PJ's home recording.

She's always been reluctant to release compilations and reissues, but it would have been great to have a special anniversary re-release of TBYML (I also thought it maybe would happen when Island records celebrated its 50th anniversary and they reissued some of their classic albums in deluxe editions, but it didn't) including the studio recordings that didn't make the cut ('Naked Cousin', 'Harder', 'Lying in the Sun,' 'Somebody's Down, Somebody's Name', 'Maniac', 'One Time Too Many', 'He's Just My Type', 'Primed and Ticking', 'Darling Be There'), some home demos (the 'Darling Be There' we know and others) and 'Long Time Coming' from the Evening Session, plus some excellent live reworkings from the tour such as 'Water', 'Hardly Wait' or 'Meet Ze Monsta'.

I wish she would consider a retrospective of unreleased material someday...

sure, but according to that authentic reel tape it was recorded during the TBYML sessions and finally left out along with the other outtakes.

No, it's two different songs - both of them are mentioned in the BMI list posted by DrDark: http://www.thegardenforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2047.

Also there's also a quote from Polly about the sound of guitar she's wrote it on: "Yeah, so fat and revolting. I just love the way the bottom string is tuned so low it flops like a washing line. I wrote "Long Time Coming" and "He's Just My Type" on it, but I don't want to go too much into the way I write because it spoils it for me."

"PJ Harvey (born 1969) used to play a borrowed 1967 Telecaster (from friend John Parish) during her early career. In a 1995 interview to Guitar Player, she declared: “John’s Telecaster is closer to my heart. It’s on all my records — I used to nick it all the time.” Later, in 2000, when she received the Mercury Music Prize, she bought her own 60s Telecaster."

Wow, written by Joe Gore, it's a shame that you can't read it in full if you're not a subscriber!

Interesting that she recorded an official studio version of Primed and Ticking. I thought they just had the Peel Session version. And I do remember that interview from back during the TBYML era where she mentioned an unreleased song called He's Just My Type. Would love to hear the both of them. Maybe she'll release them as B-sides one day like she with the White Chalk singles.

JOE: Polly, the question on everyone's mind is how you managed to find two such damn fine guitarists.

POLLY: Money, bribery, and blackmail.
