Note to moderators...maybe it's time to change the title of this thread? Something like "Let England Shake: General Discussion", maybe?

"General Discussion" is good, yet "What We Know So Far" isn't really incorrect either. Do you think anyone will get lost? Actually that question is a trap, someone always gets lost. Any other mods care to weigh in?

No big deal, really. Just seemed reasonable to have at least the title of the album in the topic line...or maybe not.

Is it time to lock the thread? Sometimes I think it's getting too big (and I'm as guilty as anyone for adding to it). There's lot's of great info in it, but we really should be putting it into new threads instead of having this one giant thread. Yeah, you can search for it, but...

I'm indifferent to changing the subject, I'm more inclined to agree with this. I don't even know what this thread is about anymore so I haven't really thought of doing anything with it, mostly I just move articles and interviews from it when I spot them and leave.

What is the name of the song sampled in "England"? Is it a Kurdish folk song?
Thanks!

We've decided to lock this thread since the album has been out now for a couple months. It's also so big that finding anything in it is difficult. Please start new topics in new threads.

It finally did sell out. Should I post my scans or has everyone seen it by now?
Edit: oops, this is a locked thread...I guess anyone who wants to reply will have to start a new thread.

Actually, you can unlock threads too as I just discovered. No need to start a new thread.

Stumbled across this tonight:

According to Mick Harvey's web site, they're recording in April 2010. Now we know (maybe) that they're using a church.

it says that "a church has been converted",
presumably from Christianity to Polly-theism.

  that was really good

amazing to find this, as I googled it ("pollytheism") just now:
http://mojoey.blogspot.se/2009/04/blogr ... heism.html

"Polly may be a god, but she's way cooler than any god you've ever met before."

Me too. In 2012 i had hoped for a 2014 release. But this doesn't seem to be very likely now being in the mid 2013, does it?

Ok, so I don't know what I was thinking last July, but we really should start a new thread when there is news of a new album. Now ( ), I'm thinking we should lock this one up.

not news but intresting subtile hope for a new record:
John Parish interviewed
Quote:
He’s “not sure” exactly when he and PJ Harvey will start work on her next album. “Hopefully next year,” he says. “We have talked about it, but Polly is very meticulous about her writing, she won’t go into the studio until she’s happy with it, so I can’t put a date on when.”
