From the videos, it looks like a much more interesting and theatrical production than the LES tour. It is much more appropriate for a festival setting (like the TBYML tour). The LES tour shows were great for a theatre/concert but for a festival not so much. PJ looks more dynamic and alive when she doesn't play a instrument all the time ( unless it is a guitar ). When watching Coachella in 2011 the show with Polly strapped to a autoharp was too subdued and dare I say a little dull for festival audiences.
From the clips shown so far it looks very impressive. She looks like she is letting go, playing for and with the audience. She's got the power and presence back with a large and cacophonous band with her. And she doesn't need pyrotechnics to put on a fantastic show. I personally think there are a couple too many people in her band. Playing with maracas, tambourines, they may soon break open the triangle. ( My only musical prowess would be to play rhythm guitar for UB40 ). It's no big deal, I imagine the gentlemen are having a real good time.
It should get better as the it continues. Wishful thinking but I would like for a festival performance play some older stuff that is suitable for this tour such as The Sky Lit Up ( ITD), Big Exit ( Stories ) The Letter ( UHH ) etc. Also hope that they have more gigs planned in 2017. Two shows in the US and none in Canada is crap. We shall see. Hopefully PJ will be back in Australia as well. Love to see her live again. Here's to more concerts shown on the internet. Cheers.
