That was the first time I experienced a new PJ release, since I started listening to her just a year prior, so I share the same fondness for that album. I was lucky to get my hands on a digipack copy, and I adored the artwork. She was (well, still is) so mysterious to me, that collection of self-portraits and notes felt like a goldmine.
As far as the music is concerned, the mere fact that she was going back to a lo-fi, almost DIY sound, after years of big productions, elevated her status in my eyes as a fierce creative soul with no boundaries. "Shame" was and still is one of the standouts, and I will never forget the excitement of watching her appearence on Letterman and how thrilled I was listening to "The Letter" for the first time!
