Update on St.Vincent/David Byrne Collab

"I think we’ll probably finish it up by early next year and then put it out."

By David Bevan, September 6, 2011 11:54 a.m. CT

Early last year, David Byrnerevealed that he and St Vincent's Annie Clark had begun work on an "on and off" brass ensemble-enriched project without any timetable. But during Clark's recent conversation with Pitchfork contributor Amanda Petrusich, the New York singer-songwriter shed new light on the forthcoming release.
"We’ve written a good deal of a record together and recorded about half of it," said Clark. "It’s very split down the middle between who writes lyrics and who sings and who came to the other with the first musical idea, it's very much egalitarian in that way, but natural. I think we'll probably finish it up by early next year and then put it out."

She added that the collaboration was inspired by the Björk/Dirty Projectors collaboration Mount Wittenberg Orca, which originally debuted at Housing Works in New York City.
