You are in for a treat. Went to his Bristol show yesterday and was very impressed. The band was John, Jean-Marc Butty, Jeremy Hogg, Giorgia Poli, and Marta Collica. They sounded great and everything was matched to clips from the films on a screen behind the band. I am always so impressed by his music and was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounded live considering how rich his arrangements can be on record. Really great show. Especially enjoyed watching Jean-Marc Butty drumming as I didn't get to see any of the LES shows and he is quite engaging when he plays. The opener was a band from Greenland called Nive Nielsen & the Deer Children. Kind of mixed feelings on them. Some songs didn't do much for me, but there were a few gems that were really good. Not sure if they will be part of the tour later in the year or if that was a one-off.

Next up is Will Gregory's Moog Ensemble on Thursday. Looks quite interesting.

Vi a Garbage el año pasado estuvieron geniales, lástima que fue en un festival. Espero que vuelvan pronto por Sudamérica.

Saw John Parish last night. Jeremy Hogg and Jean-Marc Butty were in the band.

Best bits were when John strapped on his guitar and Jean-Marc banged his drums. Can he bang those drums? :-)

Excellent show I imagine most here haven't had the pleasure of the Scotsman but he is brilliant live, & to top the night off we even bumped into the man in a local pub after the show where Paolo bought us a drink as a thank you for going to the show & joined us for a couple if photos, he stayed out until the wee hours before heading off plaiting his legs - good man

Paolo & my Mrs

I went to see Viv Albertine talking about her book - with Alexis Petridis of The Guardian - tonight.

She is a really lovely woman. I got three kisses in my copy of her book. [swooned]

I was fortunate enough to get free BBC tickets for last weeks Later with Jools

a right mixed bunch of U2, Interpoll, Sam Smith, Zola Jesus, Dave & Phil Alvin plus Slaves

never a huge fan of Bono, i always thought he was a prize knobhead but the whole U2 band were gracious & friendly to the crowd & other performers alike, they mingled & chatted and seemed quite grounded compared to the way they normally come over on TV

Well worth applying for tickets - pot luck if you get any & no idea of who'll be on until the week before but a great experience seeing the BBC machine in action, the floor staff & camera crews were brilliant, worth seeing them alone!
