Re: Is This Desire? research
I think I've seen the Scotsman one and that's it - absolutely brilliant. Thank you so much!

Re: Marc Marot (Island Records/ Blue Mountain Music)
Thank you for sharing that, Romario (sorry I'm so late seeing it). I think all the people she knew at Island were gone. She has a great sense of personal loyalty but is also firm about her own interest, quite rightly.

Re: PJ research
Coming back here after a bit of an absence. Good evening Dr Gardner!
I'm six weeks younger than PJH and though I grew up on the opposite side of the county I know many of the places she has referenced over the years. St Catherine's Chapel, West Bay, St Peter's Eype where Let England Shake was ...

Re: Is This Desire? research
Hello everyone! Another ITD question. Does anyone have any reviews of the concerts from the 1998 tour? I know about:
Stephen Dalton's piece for the NME, 'Homecoming Queenie', from 15.8.1998, reviewing the Bridport Arts Centre;
Stevie Chick's for Melody Maker from 19.12.1998, reviewing the Shepherd ...

Re: Is This Desire? research
A question as my 'research' stumbles forward: Is it true, as far as anyone here knows, that The River was never performed during the ITD tour in 1998? I've only just spotted that and it rather surprises me. Of course some of the playlists are missing, but it would be very odd if all the performances ...

Othello 2025
Hello everyone! Last night I was at the opening of Othello at the Theatre Royal in London, accompanied by Polly's music. Very striking production with back-projection and fascinating lighting effects. I haven't seen much Shakespeare, and it reminded me how many of these plays are simultaneously ...

Re: Joy was written about Nick Caves "song of joy"
Thank you, this is relevant to my investigations of Is This Desire? which are ongoing and will be for some time! I think it's not impossible that PJH was engaging in some kind of commentary on Cave's song, as the track 'Green Eyes' she recorded with Pascale Comelade must be related to his with the ...

Gosh, I'm only dropping in here occasionally, but how did I miss all these? Thank you for posting them, it's good to have them recorded!

Is This Desire? research
Friends, I have foolishly taken it upon myself to write something long-form about Is This Desire? , mainly because it's the album people here have often said they wanted to see written about. I've only just started and it will take ages, if indeed it ever happens, but I sketched a plan which I've ...

Re: PJ Pic of the Day #10
I see this lady mentions 'a free record which some of my backing vocals appear on' - presumably Dry Demonstration? I wonder how many more of Polly's schoolmates are on that!

Re: LONDON TIDE – theatre play with original songs by PJH
I saw the show on the last night, Saturday 22nd. Ironically I wasn't going to but my friend Lady Wildwood persuaded me it would be disloyal not to, so (having rescheduled from Wednesday because I'd come down with covid) I went and was very glad I did. I am not a frequent theatre-goer, but I enjoyed ...

Re: RIP Steve Albini
Thank you Romario! This is West Bay before the new piers and sea defences were built in the early 2000s. I'm assuming the date is July 1994 when Shellac were playing in the UK: https://www.concertarchives.org/bands/s ... ?year=1994
