The first half of the record is absolutely stunning. I understand the single choices now, but they are the least interesting from the bunch so far, imho.

Very interesting listening to Polly talking about the THSDP era, essentially saying that she never felt sure she was doing her best work right ...

This Prayer at the gate - Stunning opener. Unlike anything she has ever done before. Gorgeous thing.

Obviously beyond happy with this (I really can't wait to listen to ITD? demos).

There is something about this though telling me that this is some kind of "goodbye", that she won't release any more albums (in the traditional sense of the word).

I hope I am wrong.

The best thing is: Polly's voice is really in its top form. Sounding better than ever. I remembered that I got really astonished by how strong and powerful her voice sounded when I went to the Somerset House.

The three songs that I really, really like are ...

my top favorites among the ten songs are "Chain of Keys" and "Medicinals", followed by "Dollar, Dollar" and "The Orange Monkey".

Yes, that's right. The song started with the sample.

I am not enjoying it. It's not that it is bad... but I think it's not nearly as great as anything she did previously. I also don't think she is good reading poetry.

Actually, The Guest Room is probably the best poem in the book.
